Not long ago, Scheidt & Bachmann started the project "Optimized production logistics using IoT technologies" within the company. The aim of the project was initially to make internal logistics processes more transparent and efficient, thereby significantly simplifying the work of the production team at the Mönchengladbach plant. In the first step, the position of transport containers and their contents was localized automatically, making the search for material, assemblies, etc. almost completely superfluous.
By locating transport containers and their contents, statements about the whereabouts of materials are possible in near real-time. This allows Scheidt & Bachmann, for example in production, to estimate more precisely when a production order can be started.
In addition, loopa allows stocks of transport containers to be monitored so that a statement can be made about how many transport containers are at a location and what properties (e.g. dimensions, content, etc.) they have. Long searches for the right transport containers are now a thing of the past. In the meantime, Scheidt & Bachmann even goes one step further with loopa: if materials or load carriers are located at a previously defined station, loopa automatically makes the appropriate bookings in SAP, i.e. materials and stored quantities are automatically assigned to the corresponding station and booked in the system . In this way, most of the manual booking processes on the production and logistics side are automated and even completely substituted in the future.
Here is a little insight into how loopa is used in production/logistics at Scheidt & Bachmann:
